07/2018 GUH Master Update: Current Research in Colombia
Sara Jauregui from Bogota Colombia is currently implementing her master thesis "Improving the mental health of displaced population in Colombia: The impact of the training program for health care workers in two departments: Cesar and Guajira".
Colombia has suffered from internal armed conflict since 1960. This internal armed conflict is the reason why Colombia has faced one of the world’s most severe internal displacement situations and the two departments Cesar and Guajira departments are part of the most affected regions. More than seven million people in Colombia has been internally displaced due to more than 50 years of war. The situation has aggravated due to the economic crisis in Venezuela.
We are happy that this research will bring recommendations on how to multiply the training experience in other affected departments of the country.
