Biological Anthropology: Maternal and child health is an important indicator of a society’s investment in its future with a focus on these population subgroups, which are highly vulnerable under unfavorable living conditions. Wise investment in maternal and child health can have long term impacts on economic growth and development, social justice, and geopolitical stability.
Mental Health: The World Health Organization describes Mental Health as a “state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community” (WHO, 2014).
Medical Sociology and Psychology: Collaborative research projects by interdisciplinary teams are most effective when supported in the development of common goals and shared visions (Choi & Pak, 2007).
Palliative Care: Since its inception, palliative care has been viewed as a global challenge, particularly by institutions such as the WHO.
Environmental Health: How does the quality of the environment develop in urban areas, how does it affect the health of the population? This is a question of great interest to policy makers, because they must be able to recognize emerging risks in time, must be able to monitor the emergence of possible health risks and assess the outcome of the remedial measures taken.
