04/2020 Dr. Sonia Diaz-Monsalve in the German Alliance for Global Health Research
Our teaching coordinator, Dr. Sonia Diaz-Monsalve, has been elected by the General Assembly of the BMBF's "German Alliance for Global Health Research" to become a member of its Steering Committee (SC).
The German Alliance for Global Health Research is a platform that supports interdisciplinary, international and cross-sectoral global health research. The complex challenges we face today – neglected tropical diseases and antibiotic resistance, but also mental illness and diabetes together with achieving universal health coverage and the human right to health – require informed, high-quality, and scientific collaboration.
This national organization was recently founded to strengthen and promote Global Health Research in Germany. Its SC represents the key decision-making body for all funding related to Global Health projects. Almost all institutions for Tropical Medicine and International/Global Health in Germany voted to select 16 members from a total of 80 applicants for the SC. We are very proud that Dr. Sonia Diaz-Monsalve will be representing the University of Freiburg in this organization.
